Postfix

As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, Postfix is a popular mail transfer agent (MTA) commonly used on Unix-like operating systems, including Linux. cPanel, on the other hand, is a web hosting control panel that provides a graphical interface for managing web hosting services, including email. While cPanel itself does not use Postfix as its core mail server, it allows you to configure and manage email services, including Postfix, on your web hosting server. Here's a general overview of how Postfix and cPanel can be used for mailing purposes

1. cPanel Email Setup: When you have a hosting account with cPanel, you typically get access to a suite of tools for managing your website, email, and other hosting services. To set up email using cPanel, you would log in to your cPanel account provided by your hosting provider.

2. Email Accounts: Within cPanel, you can create and manage email accounts for your domain(s). This involves specifying the email address (e.g., user@example.com) and setting passwords for each account. These accounts can then be accessed via email clients (e.g., Outlook, Thunderbird) or webmail interfaces.

3. Email Forwarding: You can set up email forwarding within cPanel. For example, you can forward all emails sent to contact@example.com to your personal email address. This is useful for consolidating multiple email addresses.

4. Autoresponders: cPanel allows you to set up autoresponders, which automatically send a predefined message when an email is received. This can be handy for vacation messages or acknowledging receipt of emails.

5. Spam Filters: cPanel offers spam filtering tools that help reduce the amount of unwanted email (spam) that reaches your inbox. These filters can be customized to your preferences.

6. Email Authentication: You can configure SPF (Sender Policy Framework) and DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail) settings to improve email deliverability and verify the authenticity of emails sent from your domain.

7. Mailbox Quotas: You can set quotas for email accounts to limit the amount of disk space an email account can use. This helps manage your server's resources.

8. Postfix Integration: Postfix can be integrated with cPanel to handle the actual sending and receiving of emails. While cPanel provides a user-friendly interface for managing email accounts and settings, Postfix is responsible for the behind-the-scenes mail transport and delivery.

9. Logging and Monitoring: Both cPanel and Postfix offer logging and monitoring tools to help you track email activity, diagnose issues, and ensure proper mail delivery.

10. Security: cPanel and Postfix offer various security features to protect your email infrastructure from spam, viruses, and other threats.

Please note that the exact features and interface may vary depending on the version of cPanel and the hosting provider you are using. Additionally, software and control panel offerings may have evolved since my last knowledge update in September 2021, so it's a good idea to consult the official documentation or contact your hosting provider for the most up-to-date information on using cPanel and Postfix for mailing purposes.
